Arte e Cultura Popular Museum

In the building of the Old Public Jail, now Tourism Center, runs the Fortaleza Popular Art & Culture Museum. Founded on March 30, 1973, the Museum is a very interesting cultural option.

The collection of nearly two thousand pieces includes some decorative items, sacred objects, many fine examples of folk art as well as boats and other cultural relics. Among the main attractions of the memorial are a raft and a primitive loom.

Parts of the Mseu de Arte e Cultura Popular in Fortaleza realize the wealth of crafts and folk art from Ceará. The museum has three distinct wings: religious art, utilitarian art and art playground. The work of more traditional craftsmen dialogues with the contemporary language of local artists, painters and sculptors, showing the mutual inspiration and memory.

Opens from Monday to Saturday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Sundays from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.
