4x4 ride through the coast

If you like the idea of a real Brazilian adventure and want much more than a thrilling ride in the back of a buggy through the dunes of the beaches of Fortaleza, there are a few companies that offer off road 4x4 tours.  The tours take you through miles of the famous coast of Ceará, visiting some of the most famous and often remote attractions of Ceara on a path punctuated by cliffs, dunes and beaches with indescribable turquoise ocean waters.

The tours should be done only with companies that are registered with the tourist office, and have complete insurance for both vehicles and passengers.  The companies rely on robust vehicles like fully equiped Land Rovers, which include modified suspension systems to help navigate the rough terrain.

Travel times can vary from a single day ride to several days.  The shorter routes are one day long and include beaches in Ceara such as Canoa Quebrada and Cumbuco and range in price from R$ 250 to R$ 600 per person with capacity up to seven people.  There are longer trips to places such as Jericoacara which can take 3 days and costs around R$ 500 per person.

This is definitely a different way to see the state of Ceara and the coastal areas surrounding Fortaleza.   If you're up for an adventure, it's definitely worth looking at these trips.
