Japanese immigration: the Japanese immigration began in Brazil in June 18, 1908, when the Kasato Maru ship landed at the Port of Santos with 781 immigrants. Initially, the immigrants worked on coffee plantations in São Paulo and gradually spreaded to other states.
The pioneers came with the intention of working for 05 years in Brazil, make money and return to Japan, however, after the Second World War, with Japan's defeat, they decided to stay permanently in Brazil. The small colony grew and currently consists of a population of Nikkei population of 1,408,493 in Brazil. Paraná has the second-largest nipo-community in Brazil, with 141,936 descendants, who work in various professional fields.
