Mananciais da Serra
This section of the Sierra is located west of the Serra do Mar of Paraná. It's a beautiful rain forest. You'll see dams that served to supply water to the city of Curitiba since the first half of the twentieth century. They are located in the municipality of Piraquara, metropolitan region of Curitiba. The region is a protected area of Piraquara. It's considered a reserve of the Atlantic.
The collection system is part of the conservation area. Today the waters serve the village Caruguava and some residents of the municipality of Piraquara APA. They are used for environmental education work at the Environmental Education Center of Sierra Springs - CEAM. The site is open to visitation and search, but there is access control in the Sierra Watershed. To get there you need authorization from MDE and by permission from Companhia de Saneamento do Paraná - Metropolitan Department of Superintendence.
