Belo Horizonte Cultural Center

The Belo Horizonte Culture Center - CCBH occupies one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. The neo-Gothic building, Manueline style, was built in 1914, and its nearly one hundred years of existence, hosted important historical and cultural institutions of Belo Horizonte, as the board of the Capital, the Municipal Library, the first Radio City (PRC -7, Radio Mining), the inaugural class of the School of Architecture at the UFMG, City Hall, the Museum of Mineralogy Museum Prof. Djalma Guimarães and Brazilian Expeditionary Force.

The building is listed by the State Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage of Minas Gerais (MG-IEPHA) and the board of the Cultural Heritage of the Municipality of Belo Horizonte. Since 1997, as part of the celebrations of the centenary of Belo Horizonte, houses the Center for Belo Horizonte Culture.

Today, the institution adopts the fundamental principle of all actions taken on the premises to preserve the building blocks of its headquarters and its dissemination as a cultural city. From this perspective, the projects outlined for the CCBH are aimed at enhancement of memory and cultural diversity of Belo Horizonte, as well as dissemination and stimulating the production of artistic and cultural city. In all its actions, aims also to give the territory it occupies, ie, the hyper, importance and value consistent with the public and private investments that have been making this area an inviting space to meet, capable of renewing their resident population and at the same time, boost their economic and cultural life.

With a library that has approximately 3,700 volumes, and provides CCBH guard works on cultural heritage, arts, culture and humanities, in addition to a collection that belonged to the historian Déa Ribeiro Fenelon. It has space for reading where users can consult the newspaper library and library resources, Multimedia Room, an exhibition hall and an auditorium with capacity for 50 people. It offers computer terminals with free internet access and, through BH Digital Program, developed by Prodabel also provides wireless Internet access (wireless).

Thematic seminars and debates, exhibitions, audiovisual, educational activities and dissemination of information and knowledge are addressed to researchers, cultural, tourist and people in general, integrating a set of coordinated actions that give this space a place of cultural vitality in the city.
